"The earlier the better; eXPANDING AND DEEPENING LITERACY WITH YOUNG CHILDREN" - jEFF sHARE
Jeff Share is the author of this very informative and important article, in which he argues that the earlier children are taught critical media literacy, the better it is. Often, this teaching approach is not taught until high school, or in most cases universities and colleges (Share 109). But by this time, it is far too late. You see, it is in the early stages of life, usually from birth to age eight, that are the most important years for literacy development (Share 108). Therefore, Share not only discusses what critical media literacy is, but references different techniques that are appropriate for children in preschool, kindergarten, and grade one (109). The following information on this website will examine the importance of critical media literacy ,relating it to other sources, and discussing the ways in which I feel it is important to my own life.
